Laochra Og Notes – 29 Jun 15

Sunday 28th June U11’s hurlers played Whitechurch in Macroom Town Park. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half Laochra Óg worked hard and moved the ball well to the forwards who gave the Whitechurch defence a tough time. Eamonn Meachair’s goal one of the highlights. Making full use of the wind things opened up in the second half and the scores followed. Some great shooting from Ben Lyons earned him three goals and in fairness the Whitechurch keeper was a little unlucky not to have kept out a few. Well done to Whitechurch for a good sporting game and thanks to our team sponsors Astra Systems. Final score was Whitechurch 1 – 2 and Laochra Óg 7 – 0.

Sunday 28th June U16’s hurlers played Donoughmore in Donoughmore in the hurling league. Laochra Óg started well by scoring some fine points. Donoughmore didn’t give up but thanks to some great saves by the Laochra Óg keeper and great defence by the other players Laochra Óg were leading by four points at half time. In the second half Laochra Óg didn’t get off to a great start as they conceded some soft frees. As time went on the players rallied and got the scores to keep their lead. In a hotly contested game the players never gave up and by putting in lots of great skill and commitment. The well taken penalty proved to be vital as were the two frees in the last minutes saved on the line. The final score was Donoughmore 1 – 10 and Laochra Óg 2 – 10. Our thanks to Donoughmore for a good sporting game and team sponsors Deasy’s Pharmacy.
